i do like it up there , i work nights delivering around north devon and north cornwall , i was quite surprised when i stumbled upon this air field at 3 in the morning in the pitch black that you could drive about on (being careful of the pot holes :D) , was out for a drive a while back and popped up in the day light , its a fascinating place , thanks for the link btw

Probably my all time favorite airfield. There is so much atmosphere here. I visit usually 3 to 4 times a year and always find something new. I believe the Cornwall At War Museum conduct guided tours during the summner months. Looking forwards to my next visit in October.

Yes, it is very atmospheric. I have been in the area for over ten years and keep seeing bits I never knew were there. I have only just noticed a cluster of nissen huts and a seperate cluster of shelters. Must do something about them!

The Control tower at Davidstow more

Hi Guys

The Airfield is a real gem, bit windy even in the hight of a Brittish summer, I went there a few weeks back.
Here are a few pictures of the Control tower.

The last picture is of a Stanton air raid shelter at the museum (they don`t like you taking photos inside the place)

Well there you go, only spent a little time there, might go back when the "SUN" comes out.

Cheers Newage

This is so near me... I may have to pencil in a visit this week as the weather down here is supposed to be lovely.

Indeed! The weather is set fair. Check the woods via Google 'cos there are afew remains and also access opposite the chees factory to loads of shelters, oh and don't forget the remains 'tween factory and A39....good luck

Went there a couple of days ago and prowled around the control tower. So much to see over the airfield! I'm definitely going back with a proper camera and more time to explore.

Be sure to look these out as they are very rare these days -

Watch out for the flyers who still use the field

Also there are always echo's of the past - if you look carefully ;)
