I visited the Abbey early this morning, also waiting for Wagg20 who never turned up!. Anyway the Abbey itself was founded in the early 1000s so it is seriously old. Then in around 1800 a Local farmer decided to build a Marshpump Windmill smack bang in the middle of the Ruined Abbey which bit the dust in the Dissolution I would guess around 1545 ish!. All in all I got some great shots but it made for a vey spooky explore as it is reputedly haunted by monks and an appearance by my namesake Black Shuck himself! Enjoy Guys!:)

Some seriously interesting remains there, including the windmill too...adds to the oddity, methinks!
Lovely find and pics, Black. :) The last photo looks like a stone Loch Ness monster! ;)

Thanks Foxy. The wall you talk about looked like a Castle Battlement to me. It is made with Norfolk Flint which is a much used building commodity in this neck of the woods. It contrasted nicely with the Brickwork of the Mill itself, but it was very strange because it all sort of came together.:mrgreen:

You say it looked like the Loch Ness monster. There was that much mirk and mist about by the river he could have appeared over the bank!
