Firstly, sorry, I signed up a while ago and never posted very much. I've not been too well recently, in and out of hospital so wasn't doing much exploring. But hopefully I'm here to stay this time :)

Right, the Church...

Built 1868 as a chapel and schoolroom.
In 1987 the church closed and was replaced with a new one built on the opposite side of the road.

The site has been empty, boarded up and secure for as long as I can remember, but whilst driving past a couple of weeks ago I noticed the door open and a board removed. The two kind builders were happy to let me come in and take some pictures after checking I wasn't from the planning office.
From what they seem to know, the whole back room will be knocked down and only the main hall will remain and be converted into offices.
There was a very strange painting in the back room, not your usual graffiti, and not something you'd expect to have been painted whilst the church was in use.
Apparently this back room was once used for ballet, though whilst in use the eerie dead ballerina obviously wasn't there, and apparently there has been no evidence of entry since it's closing.

Well, that painting is certainly.....original! I like it! But yea, I don't think it was there when the church was in use unless they rented a room to the local goth ballerina group! :)

That reminds me. I have a goth ballerina concert tonight! I seriously love Methodist Chapels. Theres one near our Caravan that im itching to get in. Its a shame that all the original built in seating wasnt there and that the roof was closed in. Other than that im sure it will make some nice offices.

Haha Goth ballerinas would be quite intersting to watch! I was dissapointed the place was so gutted though :(

...though on the plus side, there's a few other disused methodist chapels around here I know about. Hopefully they wont be so gutted!
