All Saints Church, Stourmouth, Kent

Here is a place from a recent trip.

Unfortinetly finding proper abandoned things is low at the moment so here is a redundant church from the Garden of England. This church is mainly Saxon. Changes were made in the late 12th century. The church got damaged in an earthquake in the late 1300's so it had to be rebuilt. Windows soon got replaced in the 15th century and restored in 1845. Since the 1970's. It has become redundant, leaving the church hall to become derelict.

The 19th century organ is sadly locked up, the back door to the church is now a compost toilet and there are 3 bells in the small tower.

The full definition of a beautiful Kentish church. Definitely a high rating from me. I think the loo might be best in a little shed outside the church.

You didn't manage to get into the bell tower then? I've rolled past this one a few times, but haven't stuck my head round the door yet. I expect the villagers look after it a bit, it's in good condition considering it's stuck in a sort of purgatory.

Thanks, In order to access the bell tower, it will involve a ladder. I'm no good with wonky ladders

What a nice church and its very well looked after, not much dust anywhere. Maybe the villagers still use it. I like the organ and the carvings.

Had a look at this last week. Its open to the public and looked after but not used for services. The first pic is the morgue which isn't unlocked but the keyholder might be persuaded if you could find them. Toilet was locked up when we were there. You would need a hop picking ladder to get up to the tower!

Nice one, I presume it is part of the church conservation trust, I visited a few of those
