Report - Bastard Chapel - Cornwall July 2017

The Name is totally appropriate, check out that gravestone!

So this was a pleasant little find. Not much history on this one, but it is a listed build "Methodist chapel. Probably c1860 with minor later alterations. Roughly coursed slate-stone with granite and yellow brick dressings; slate roof with ornamental ceramic cresting to nave."

There is a second chapel on site but it's floor is probably the worst I have ever seen. A large chunk collapsed whilst I was looking through the door. I'm sure someone else might fancy trying it but I'm out. Anyway here are a few pics.

Interesting little chapel but no comments on the dear departed surnames.

Awesome little chapel a wee bit spooky though our dog was barking at something and on the video play back there was a low growling.
A fun little place to visit and easy to access

Pity about the dinky little organ left to rot!

Some great photos - looking at the Bastard Gravestones reminded me of an Antique dealer who used to be in one of the shops at Yelverton Roundabout between Tavistock and Plymouth in around the 1980s - the name was Robin Bastard! Perhaps unfortunate for that sort of trade!

An unusual name and given the geographical proximity I wonder if he was related?
