A Church on this site is mentioned in the Doomsday Survey of 1086. Some parts of the current church date from as far back as the 12th and 13th Century. Attempts to rebuild it were made in 1629 and 1665 by Sir Robert Bruce Cotton, and his grandson, Sir John. The church was restored in 1865, but deteriorated in the mid 20th Century and was abandoned in the 1960s.

Love it Rubex, my kinda place. I do love a ruin, standing in the middle of a hollow shell imagining what could have been. You got some great shots, great colours and some nice composition. Cheers!

This is lovely and very cool the site is listed in Doomsday. There must be some very old graves dotted about there. That last shot is a belter!!
