Visited this old church with man gone wrong a little while back.it is the only church dedicated to this 7th century monk.originally sited on a Saxon site it was rebuilt in 1272.it had a tower added in the 14th century.and rebuilt again in 1868,sadly the church was destroyed by fire in May 2004,it is believed that it was an arson attack and the gas canisters used for heating exploded the fire was so intense that the church was totally gutted.it was said it was going to be levelled to the ground but no sign of that yet.i don't think it will ever be restored.its in the middle of nowhere up a track.the locals would like to see it left to ruin.there are still a few freshly tended graves in the graveyard.

I never realised the pic was of the monk.how strange is that.how it survived an intense fire.or it's been added later
