City Temple - Hull - October 08

This is Hull City Temple which has been abandoned since 1984. It's a former Methodist Chapel and the current owner plans to convert it into flats. After visiting, I would say he has his work cut out for him.

The building is very impressive from the outside but inside it's a real mess. There are holes all over the floor and the upper balcony level and strange stage type thing look very unsafe.

It IS a real shame. Especially since there seems to be a real Christian revival happening, and new churches are struggling to find suitable buildings.

We're all cosy in an old converted furniture showroom though.

Gorgeous building. Some really nice details...love the blue-painted moulding and the rose window. Very sad to see it left to rot.

Shame. How can it be justified to turn these gorgeous pieces of architecture into flats. All i can say is that money talks, and council planning chiefs have been getting their fat pockets lined with fat developer money for years!
