Ok here goes, I guess this is technically my first proper exploration, definatley the first one I have ever shared on here or written up about.

Been driving past this place on the way to work every morning for the past 6 months or so and was always intrigued as to what it was. From the road it appears to be three boarded up buildings set in their own grounds, one of which has the appearance of a "modern" church.
I did a little research, which to be honest didn't turn up an awful lot other than the fact that what I was driving past was an old vicarage, church, and church hall. Apparently built in 1951 (although judging by the style of buildings I would guess they were regenerated/rebuilt in the 1960's or 70's).
The only other info I could find was that all three buildings were taken out of service and shut down in 2003 following "fire damage".
The strange thing I noticed is that the "fire" managed to damage three buildings at the same time, even though they are seperated by gardens/grounds. A little mysterious if you ask me.

Anyway, I decided to take my headtorch and camera and take a closer look just before Christmas, one morning on the way to work. I was not dissapointed.
The church is quite spacious in the main hall with the huge dusty arch window letting in gray light. I didn't expect to find a lot in the church to be honest as it appears from the outside to be the most damaged, having sections of roof missing, however once inside I discovered a corridor and other rooms at the back, some with items still lying around.
The overall feeling of the place was a kind of detatchment from time and reality, even when standing in the vicarage gardens only yards away from the real world.

Quite a bizzare place, which made me late for work considering I found more than I expected. Needs a revisit, and the vicarage looks very promising inside.

Feedback on my first attempt at sharing my work appreciated.

Feedback, eh? OK, let's start with no pics to see, and I can't be bothered clicking on a link. ;)

Oh, ok...was looking for something a little more positive but there you go.
Why can't you be bothered clicking a link its dead easy?
I did try to put one pic in to make it more interesting before clicking the link but it doesn't seem to show it?

Aye i'm always a fan of the black and white with coloured foreground/subject mate. But yes a few more pics on your post would be nice, we're lazy buggers! :)

Still easier to click the link for ALL the pics though.

Not being picky or anything...well, maybe a bit  ...but if everyone just posted links it would be a pretty boring forum, plus it destroys the connection between pics and text. Other than that, I enjoyed your write-up and seeing somewhere new too. That second pic is great. Is that a photo of a projected slide?
Welcome to the forum too, Obi Wan. :)

Many thanks foxylady, I appreciate any criticism, especially considering I am a newbie.
The second pic I took using my digital camera being pointed through the view finder of an old defunct normal 35mm camera, then I added a bit of noise and scratches and turned it sepia. The result is pretty authentic don't you think?

Inventive stuff...I really like that.
Something I'd love to get is a slide projector to play around with for that kind of work. I did some at Uni, with someone standing against the image on the wall...weird camouflage stuff.

Yeah its kind of ironic using vintage equiptment with digital gear to recreate vintage pics but its amazing how cool some of it looks when it works.

The monochrome and sepia work well in creating an atmosphere - which is what the experience of exploring abandonments is about for many of us - and it's good seeing someone being inventive with photos for a change too (ie. not just more HDR!) Also goes to prove that 1970's or '80's era buildings can be visually rich. :)
