Some excellent shots,I love the old bicycle still with its basket attached. Not so sure on the gallantry of sending the wife to do the inside shots though.I live in hope that was a joke.
Having walked across half rotten beams, scaled heavily rusted drainpipes, fallen down holes, men in uniforms, not so friendly nor so little pouches, and lunatics with guns,I find the adrenaline rush all part of the fun,if that is quite the right word?

No i wasn't joking, she weighs less than halfo what i wegh and i am 5 times as strong as she would be therefore in the event of a floo=r colapsing she is 10 times more likly to be rescued from wherever she fell into. Plus she's like a ferret and like going underground an into dark inacessible plaxes and is just as good as me with a camra. Now i pray to my holy god that she don't read this.:)
Shes also very handy when the upstairs of aold biulding is in bad repair as well, its better that she fell on me than me fall on her if the flor give way

Ah ha! The light shines brighter in my dim lit mind.
I was actually being sarcastic, which is well known to be the lowest form of wit, hence the dim lit mind.
Great shots. The whole place is well on its way to back to nature.Total decay, exquisite beauty!

Looks like a fascinating place. What does Williamite refer to?

Post edit

Doh! should have read the text more closely. Apologies

I like this, especially seeing the really old battered and rusty bridle in there. :) and the old bike. This is the kind of place I'd love to live in (albeit with a roof etc). Nice work and a lovely find.

:) Sal

there was atually a full set of tack for a donkey in theehouse a bluff(blinkers) bit, traces and sadle must ask the owner if i can have them. herself keeps a few horses and i have a driving pony and we have an old donkey cart somewhere, i used to have a full set but sold them with a cart a few yers back and antiqe stuff looks good round the stables andcould also be used with my frends donkey

That looks great Faing, I must add my thanks to you actually mate. I have just come back from Ireland after visiting there for a week to see an old friend who lives near Doon up in the mountains there. She is a biker as well, as am I. Anyway I saw your write up on Beagh Castle and went and did that myself whilst I was over there. Super place only spoilt really by Shannon airport and those ruddy oil tanks. Ruined some of my pics they did :) I wanted to do that railway station as well but ran out of time. Have you ever done Dromore Castle? I saw it from the main road and went up to where the gatehouse was but again I was running out of time to have a look. Is Askeaton Castle worth a look? I'll be back over in the summer for another visit and I'm starting a wish list for places now so if you have any recommendations I'd be very grateful.

only ever seen dromore from the road wold love to get acces and have a good look rond the place.until i fond this website i never new there were so many fok intrested in old stuff,my old place i use to live had a norman caastle in the back way and it was only ever thoght of a a source of stone building materials, qwe havve lots of old stuff round limerick county but i envy you all the industrial stuff in the uk especially the victoria enginering stuff

From what I could see I think that you could just drive down the drive to Dromore Castle and wing it when you get to the bottom. I think they were building a new house down there adjacent to the castle but not sure. It does say private at the gatehouse but maybe all thats required is a quick please and thankyou. Thats what I'm going to try next time anyway.
