Milton House is one of the scariest places I've been in.
Disused since the 1960s with minimal attention since, some of the floors are very bad, but others lead you into deception by appearing quite sound.

Milton was built in the late 1830s as a replacement for the previous Milton House which was burnt down, possibly to stem the typhoid within.

I don't think it likes me, last time I visited it left me lying in a heap on the ground floor, cushioned on a pile rotten wood, nails, slates, stone and mortar.
This time I didn't expect to go inside, so my tripod was left in the car - the merciful Milton punished me only with slightly lousy photos at high ISO.

Away from the main oak curved staircase and entrance hall it is very bad.

Ancient bathroom fittings and gas lighting served to remind me how long this place has been abandoned. I shouldn't be walking on these wooden floors...

I really like the look of that house. So many lovely fixtures...gorgeous stained glass window...and bags of atmosphere.
Is that an old fire extinguisher in the last pic?
Cheers, Lost. :)

Yes it is, I meant to post a photo of it. I've found a few of these old Minimax fire extinguishers before in various places.

Here's the instruction label found in another house

Looks like it was built/decorated in arts and crafts style?

Yes, it was extended and restored in the Arts and Crafts style in about 1900.

I was thinking you'd be a knob to go upstairs - all due respect to lost for risking it!

 It really isn't that bad as long as you stick to the middle of the house. The roof has recently been replaced ahead of a full restoration, so it shouldn't get any worse.

This is gorgeous.......the doors, the staircase, the bathroom..........pity it is such a poor state :(

Lovely stuff there, love the bathroom shot, fantastic.:)
