Default The Doctor's House, Horton Hospital - Nov' 10

After our shock discovery at West Park earlier in the day, and after a good lunch in Epsom town centre me and my companion set off, initially, to try and find St Ebbas. After getting a bit lost, but being buoyed by street names such as 'Horton Hill' and 'Long Grove Drive' we found the converted/new build combination that was the Horton Hospital. Heading towards the looming tower (totally sealed) we came out by the steel shuttered Hall/Chapel and spotted an interesting looking building almost hidden from view on the edge of the site. Turned out to be a Doctors House for the site, and it's totally fooked! We didn't dare venture upstairs after seeing the state of some of the floorboards....

    This ceiling scared me....

At the end of the day we weren't even sure we were at Horton, but this was right next to the 'Horton Haven' hospital site and stamped on a piece of wood out the front of the building was 'Horton Doctor's Residence' or something similar so put two and two together....

Only the admin is left at St Ebbas isn't it? Last time I was there was August 2008 and the demo had progrssed massively. I still found it the most boring asylum ever.

Back to the original topic - nice to see something original from Horton! Had no idea there were bits and pieces left,

DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
