I've spied this building several times while passing through Blackburn, it's easy to see just off one of the major roads in the town, and it's always looked like a really good site to photograph.

I don't know much history about the site unfortunately, but it was clearly a good sized home for the area at one point. There are no other houses like it in the vicinity for example. However, since I was last in the area someone has clearly taken delight in taking a match to the place. So what was once a possible treasure trove of delights to discover, is now a ruin of a once grand structure. Shame.

What little research I've done indicates that the site was, at one stage at least, going to be redeveloped to a 41 bedroom care home. Whether this was before or after the fire is unclear. In the interests of self preservation I didn't try to gain access inside. I did however manage to get a few internal shots through some broken windows and the letter box on the front door.

Yeah, thanks guys. I think if you could get inside the cellar, it might provide some interesting shots. I does look like the ground floor and certainly the cellar have survived the fire.

Nice one, I've seen this many times too and always been told that it was occupied, until the recent fire......then it looked like it was secured up very tightly. Always thought it looked like an interesting place. Some nice pics there. ;)
