I've spied this building several times while passing through Blackburn, it's easy to see just off one of the major roads in the town, and it's always looked like a really good site to photograph.
I don't know much history about the site unfortunately, but it was clearly a good sized home for the area at one point. There are no other houses like it in the vicinity for example. However, since I was last in the area someone has clearly taken delight in taking a match to the place. So what was once a possible treasure trove of delights to discover, is now a ruin of a once grand structure. Shame.
What little research I've done indicates that the site was, at one stage at least, going to be redeveloped to a 41 bedroom care home. Whether this was before or after the fire is unclear. In the interests of self preservation I didn't try to gain access inside. I did however manage to get a few internal shots through some broken windows and the letter box on the front door.
Hopefully this is suitable for a report, if not then please delete.
