Ok, I know this one has been done a lot, but this was mine and Unclejessie’s first official explore and it’s fairly local to us. And besides, the latest photos might show how the site has decayed since previous visits.
History has been covered many times, but briefly: millionaire builds himself a mansion (Whitefields) and a B&B (Uplands) on neighbouring sites. Has disagreement with wife, responds by burning both buildings to the ground. Whitefields is bulldozed into its swimming pool, Uplands for some reason is not, leaving the burned-out shell and a small cottage on the same site still standing.
Anyway, on with the pics: (I’ve tried not to repeat too many from previous visits)
First glimpse after walking the long driveway:
One of the many bathtubs:
Bathtubs and radiators are about the only internal fittings still remaining:
Rear of the house:
The cottage:
A Hotpoint “Liberator Dryer” according to the front panel!
Hope you enjoyed my first write-up, hope the pics weren’t too repetitive of previous peoples’ reports!
