Got a tip of from a friend about these cottages..I did not know about them, and they are situated up the road from me.the two cottages were ex farm cottages and are situated on the edge of a large new housing estate.one house you can enter but the other is totally blocked up..these won't be here for much longer as they are due to be demolished soon,as the land they sit on is earmarked for several more thousand cardboard houses..not a lot in them to see but I got what I could.the ceilings and the upper floor is quite damaged.

Lovely pics, think I know where this is. You've made it look good, might pay it a visit as its up the road! Ta :)

Nice report, the exterior shot showing that in those far off days even the humble workers cottage could be built to good architectural standards. Those facia boards, chimney stacks, window reveals and brick work just shout out 'class'! Now a days the farm worker is more likely to be housed in an old mobile home or be expected to find his own accommodation.

Just one point. Please note that this is not directed at Mikeymutt, as it seems to be the latest trend in photographing interiors and my comments are probably based on the fact that photographs were one of the 'tools' of my occupation. I feel that the outstanding features photographed here need to be placed in the context of their surroundings. An overall view from the open doorway or entrance hall would really 'construct' this place for me. An exterior shot with all the surrounding landscape photoshopped out would receive the same comments - I like to see the 'feature' as a context of the 'whole'. As I say this is no way a criticism of Mikeymutt's excellent work, just a statement on what appears to be a general trend these days by many people.

thank you very much and I will take your comments on board for my next trip..I am new to this but am always willing to learn.I was under the impression people wanted close up views of the features but I will be more than happy to do some wider scope photos..as for a more landscape shot from the outside.really would have been pointless on this one as there is not one.its literally waste ground all round it and loads of new houses in front of it :) thanks mike.

Mike,

Your exterior was fine and showed where the building was situated. However if you had cropped out all the grass and background I would have no idea if building was in middle of motorway or on top of a cliff - if you see what I mean. Keep up the good work, I like your images!

yes I get what you mean totally now..It looks in the middle of nowhere..but if I was to take a shot from the rear there are hundreds of houses in the background.it's all very deceiving.thank you for your kind comments.
