After dropping (one of)my daughters at school took a short walk to this place. Beautiful house with huge front and rear gardens smack bang in middle of town...but somehow unnoticed( well not exactly true local artists have visited) Would love to live here, visited its neighbour (house of disappointment) not long ago and this place was sealed at that time. Looks like I was a little late to the party but good explore all the same. A little nervy as on my own...sadly no history other than this and next door in the hands of the developers.Took a lot of pics, will put a link to rest...

Nice shots there. I see that you've paid particular attention on certain items in the house - namely the switch covers. I haven't seen those types. Oh, the adapter socket in picture 3 is definitely illegal to use nowadays. This house is quite nice and worth a renovation.

Yes I like old stuff like that...original to the house? don't know, looks like a renovation was started pretty sure the house will be flattened as plot it sits on is huge...

All the electrical gear shown is 1920's/30's era Crabtree Electrical Co. The classic 'strapped reed' design is quite common - or was when I was a lad, the face plate was available in metal or bakelite over the production period. I should clarify the 'common' description - these switches were expensive when compared with the usual domed variety and were more usually found in large, expensive properties. Those larger properties in much later years were ideal candidates for conversion to flats or offices, hence these electrical fixtures always ended up on the tip. Difficult to accurately age the house from your images, but certainly not 1920's and most likely lit by gas originally - given your centre of town location, so I would think the switches were fitted when the house was originally electrified. If you search out when the local electricity generating company was set up, you should be able to get an indication if this is in fact true or if they were fitted during a 1920's/30's revamp of earlier electrics in the property.
