I tried to find this place last week with Brewtal, however it turned out to surrounded by thick heath and brambles and was a total pain in the ass to get too, so we gave in.

I decide to go for a little walk this weekend to try and get to it from a different direction hoping there was a much easier route. I took a major detour following the most overgrown 'Public Footpath' I've ever seen, but I got there.

The History

This house is located behind Princes Mushroom farm, which closed down in 2003. I would assume that the house became derelict around the same time that the mushroom farm closed down. Princes Mushrooms has now become a Gatwick Car park (A pretty good use for it tbh)

The Explore

Looking at the couple of reports of this house from a few years back it looked fairly intact. However the years really have taken their toll and the place and its quite rapidly being reclaimed by nature. Its a total pig to get to. Brewtal you were right about this one being one for the winter!

There appears to have been a fire because the ceiling is collapsing and is totally inaccessible, not that would want to go up there anyway!

To summarise, the house was pretty Riggity Riggity Wrecked Son.

Good work mate! Glad you made it but I'm gutted I wasn't there! Did you thrash about with your tripod again!? :D Cracking pics, really sharp and detailed. Nice touch with the bit of Tina at the end haha! Sorry I didn't get back to you by the way, work has been hectic. 26 hours in 2 days between yesterday and today. I will be in touch soon mate. Good work with this place, glad you got there in the end after that ball ache attempt we had!

This is an email that I received today. Sheds a bit of history on this place.

Bridges Wood House Surrey 2016

How sad, I lived here with my parents, sister and brother. 1950-1968.
My Father built the first mushroom farm in 1950 but sadly died in 1963 after a huge expansion. My Mother and I ran the farm till 1968 and sold up and left the area. I found your pictures by accident
