So heres my first report (after some persuasion from fellow forum member MockingBird) after a few years of reading and looking at reports on here,it really is about time I posted so heres a quaint little place a few villages over from me. I had my eye on this place for a few month mainly due to a scrap/breakers yeard been within the grounds and then also a building site behind that. Fast forward a few months a brief explanation to non forum member Brighters and he was off to recce access while I finished nightshift,a quick phonecall and I was on my way in. From what we can gather due to the parts been left behind it was mainly a small parts dealer but also had the old school garage pits for working underneath cars and a load of tyres scattered in everyroom, the main room with the counter was inaccessible due to the large hole in the floor and huge metal door blocking the corridor. We spent a good few hours in here just mooching about, anyway on with the shots.

This is not my first explore but I thought id share this one as I enjoyed it hope you guys do

Great report, really enjoyed your pics! I look forward to seeing more from you. Thanks for sharing.

Very nicely done with photographs full of informative information. Indications are from many of the contents that the business had been going since at least the early 1950's - however the evidence of work pits could place the business in the era of the steam waggon and original building of the premises to the very early 1900's. You may well be correct about the premises belonging to a Small Parts Dealer; however, new cars were few and far between in post WW11 Britain (export or die being the motto) and garages like this would be working flat out to keep pre war models running. New spares were none existent, but many of these models had been built in vast numbers for the war effort - along with tons of spares. Ruddington type sales were set up almost immediately at war's end and I suspect from the Ministry type wooden packing cases and the 'bulk' buying, that this garage business was buying spares where ever they could to keep customers cars on the road. As a eleven year old in 1954, I can remember Dad buying a brand new Ford of America flathead V8 from a small ex surplus dealer, to keep our old 'woody' station wagon on the road for a few more years. Wish I could have kept the bloody great thing!
