*Yellow Pages Bungalow - Janurary 2017

My new year of exploring finally has a start. I just happened to pass this little boarded up bungalow, on the way to a cluttered potential I found a few months ago, It happened to be totally sealed up.

Only thought i'd give it a quick look through the window frame. Once I saw the chair, I was in. A few good bits inside it, and a fair amount of decay and damage. It's as small inside as it looks outside. I'm unsure if it is worth saving. The history and the year it was abandoned isn't very visible. I liked it.

WW2 played havoc with some unfortunate families - no next of kin to leave assets to! The visible clues to the time of abandonment of this place indicate that this could/may have been the cause. The wicker seated chair, in the second photograph, brings back childhood memories of the major race weeks in Doncaster - i.e. Ledger Week etc. Back in those days; amongst the itinerant Knife Sharpeners, fortune tellers, repairers of leaky and loose handled pans etc., wandering the streets of the town for business, were the 'Repairers of Wicker seated and backed Chairs. Weaving wicker or cane work is not as easy as it may look, skill is needed to get the straight running lines and correct tension into the strands and then lock them off under the seat.

This is a very nice set here Dauntless. Photographs tell its present story very well. Particularly like the placement and subject matter of the first and last photos - they give a very good indication of this buildings position in the landscape (something I particularly like to see in a report). Thanks for an enjoyable few moments!

Thank you. You really know your stuff. I don't have a huge knowledge on the second world war so this is really interesting to read.
