Until late 1984 my parents used to rent a set from Granada. I only remember an engineer looking at it once, who looked like a young Jim Royle. That was in spite of it being an older set, as I remember it had sliders for the settings & push buttons for the channels, which were more typical of a mid late 1970s TV.

My parents replaced it with a Philips 16 inch set with remote control from Comet. The Argos catalogue for that year has the same set for 250. This lasted about 20 years & only needed professional attention once or twice.

I noticed the energy saving lightbulb on the table lamp which is on the floor in front of the fireplace, energy efficient bulbs like that became widely used in the 2000's. 8 tv's indicates possibly it was once a very full house? Its a shame the ashes have just been left there like that.

I did spot that bulb and had been wondering!
I'd thought them to be a more recent idea. I'm definitely no expert either.
    Full of meaty goodness.

About us
DerelictPlaces is a forum for people with an interest in the history and documentation of disused, derelict and abandoned buildings to come together and share their experiences, photography and historical findings. Our military, industrial and historical heritage is fast disappearing under the pressure of regeneration, the need for new housing, and often through simple neglect; Our aim is to document these places before they disappear entirely.
