It terrifies me to think I might go down that route. Mind you, I probably won't make it to an old age either. (I actually think a gang of wasps will finish me!)
I know the homes have awesome staff (when they manage to recruit them) and everyone does as much as they can to make the residents lives as comfortable and happy as possible but I dunno - it still fills me with sadness. Those residents have lived their younger lives productively and looked forward to retirement, only to be hit with that. A real shame.
Although people live longer now and there's more chance of it forming, I do blame chemicals in food production and other contamination with food. Metals for example.
There's an almost new purpose built dementia care home only 1/4 mile from me here. They achieved seriously high standards and awards when operating as a home but for some reason it closed. Residents were transferred and staff paid off. The home is lived in by two families on 6 monthly tenancies just to ensure the building stays in good shape.
A sad closure that. An uncertain future too given how the UK is melting away.
An interesting place none the same and thanks for going to the effort.
