Scots Baronial Mansion visited July 2008.
I'd travelled up North to see Balintore Castle and Dunalastair (photos coming soon) and while I was travelling between the two noticed the name 'Achalder' on the map. The name rung a bell so I decided to stop off and take a look around.
The House was visible in the distance but took a bit of finding due to its extremely overgrown state. Once I got there it was a beautiful place though, the level of vegetation in the place was astonishing; full-sized trees growing inside the building.
I believe the house dates from around 1870 and was built for Major Campbell of Achalder by the architect John Starforth. It was occupied by evacuess during the was and eventually abandoned and de-roofed to avoid rates.

Some fletting glimpses through the trees:

That's an absolutely gorgeous building and your photos are excellent, credo. It's a pity the watermark is so huge though, as it detracts from the image and makes it difficult to see. Nice find. :)

Why spoil your photo's with such a big watermark? How much media attention do you think this site is going to attract, to warrant such huge watermarks?

Looks like a nice place, but the watermark spoils the pics as others have said

Firstly welcome to DP! I have to agree with the folks here regarding the watermark! nice photos but why post them if with a big dirty watermark splattered on them? With a watermark that size I wouldn't have bothered even posting the images as it seriously detracts your own good efforts and gives out the impression of "these are my fotys so hands off!"

just my personal thoughts and not meant of offend!

Nerve.

I think his real name is Greg Thompson and he is implying he's got a massive CREDO
