Stopped off briefly at Milton-Lockhart April 2008. An impressive private bridge over the Clyde with gateway and lodge, this used to lead to Milton-Lockhart house in the large estate beyond. The house was dismantled and shipped to Japan years ago, where it was reconstructed - so disappointing! There isn't much to see but the gateway is a beautiful reminder to a country house sadly lost to Scotland forever :(

The crest is truly delightful. In fact, the whole feeling of the place has a bit of magic to it.
I would love to be able to see the Lodge and what lies beyond the gates.
Lovely find. :)

Yes me too! Unfortunately the gates were well chained up. I think there must be houses in the estate though, as a car rolled up just as I was leaving.

Nice find. Good shot looking through the gates. Amazing to think that the entire house was taken down and shipped to Japan!
