A Quick trip to West Norfolk today with a couple of the Kids. Swaffham is a 61 Closure as can be seen from the Bunk Beds in Situ. Also a very narrow Hatch!. Watton was an absolute Corker and much easier to get down into. The Orlit or Observation Point at Swaffham was on top of the Pillbox! The Pics,... Now onto Watton Post.

I am thick regarding ROC posts...what was attached to the flange on the ceiling of the bunker?A very interesting report indeed. Also the concrete shed above the bunker..what was that used for?

The Concrete shed is an Orlit which is a Post War Aircraft Observation Tower!:)

Mate you are teasing me now. Fantastic posts but I like the type 22 looks like it had an orlit added to the top of it

Yes there were the remains of an Orlit on the top but it was in a hell of a state. The 22 smelt of piss inside so I decided against venturing in too far. The outside of the 22 had a sort of concrete skin face and the Box was bloody Huge!!:)

Jonney just a quick question mate. I found that the ROC Shaft at Swaffham was extremely narrow and thin compared to nearly all the other ROCs I have visited. Would you have any idea why? It was touch and go for a while!!

It's a strange one mate I always thought they were built to a specific size and they were all the same. Anyway they say vasaline is good for getting into tight places
