ROC Post St Ives

When I first started urban exploring, I wanted to see all and capture all but after 4 years of this I got picky and wanted to see places I felt drawn too, but this year saw me venture "underground" for the first time in a few years, but I did not go alone.

It was around 1am and myself followed by close friends, decided to go find this ROC Post considering they have a keen interest in this type of stuff, it was also on route to where we needed to be, so why not plan a good trip in good company! :D an easy site to introduce them too. So once we parked up we set off across some fields "in utter darkness" oh what fun seeing them fall over an slip an fall into ditches and in mud! (fools) Cruel watching but fun!

Eventually we was away from the motorway an could not see a thing, but we finally arrived and the hatch was wide open so I was hesitant to go down first, in case someone else was down there possibly sleeping but alas torch in hand I ventured down and to my surprise no one was down there so maybe someone had left the hatch open.... hmmm

Once down below we looked around and documented what we saw, one had the Gopro the other his phone, and sure enough they was amazed having never done anything "urbex" related before. Was fun showing people what I do when I am not in the studio, an they simply loved it so upon them seeing this they now come with me everywhere, an have seen over 40 odd sites since this night!! I do like light painting aswel so going at night was no bother to me. It was a cold night but always fun, an yes we closed the hatch after we left. :)

Some history below:
Opened in May 1959 and closed in September 1991,In 1956 and 1965 the government ordered for 1,563 monitoring posts to be built and for 31 larger HQ and control centers to also be built. These posts were intended for ROC volunteers to measure nuclear blast waves and radioactive fallout, All these sites where closed after the cold war in 1991. Today many are still in good condition while others are damaged an set on fire by mindless vandals.

On with the pictures enjoy folks! LOTS more to come from me

Utter darkness!
