July 2008 it was well and truly locked and was stated on another site that this would be virtually impossible to get into.

Well, time to open up the hatch and see how the interior has survived.

Suitably impressed. Excelent first post.

But since it it's your first post, you'll need to make a few more before folks are able to PM you. :)

Thanks for editing...

It looks nice and dry, which poster is it in that last photo?

It is dry inside but the water level is critical as its nearing floor level. We did try to pump out the water that is there but the pump is absolutely solid and simply wouldn't budge even with a gentle tap from a club hammer.
Hopefully we will return soon with our own pump to take out the water as this will be flooded otherwise. If anyone is thinking of visiting this ROC post and has a pump, PLEASE take it with you and quick, as the local police have been requested by us to have this sealed up again. HELP SAVE THIS ROC POST !!
The poster depicts a group of around ten RAF aircraft and the names underneath.

Exploring

ill have a look cheers
ps do you normally take a club hammer exploring?

When i'm exploring, I do carry a rucksack packed with essential equipment including:
1 club hammer for loosening things that may need un-loosening like the said pump above.
1 length of rope for climbing up and/or down
1 torch as we all know it gets dark in/up/down there.
1 pack of candles to light the way in case the torch goes belly up.
Something to eat as it's hungry work all this exploring.
Something to drink as it's thirsty work all this exploring.
1 pack of baby wipes because it gets dusty/dirty/filthy in/up/down there.
Assorted other items.
What do YOU carry in YOUR bag when YOU go exploring...what a great idea for a new post.

To be fair, the locks that were there haven't exactly been a deterrent have they? Hence the boltcutter treatment. And if the T-bar(?) was locked to it must've been someone equipped to tackle it.

Getting the police onto the landowners will probably only get it demolished eventually too.

Taking a club hammer with you could be construded by the authorities as going equipped to break and enter. Can't honestly think of another reason why an explorer would carry such an item with them.

"Getting the police onto the landowners will probably only get it demolished eventually too"
The cost of welding the hatch shut £80.00 approx.
The cost of demolishing would be considerably more so I know what I would do if it were mine.
I have been stopped by the police on many occasions and had my rucksack thoroughly searched (I live in London so quite used to it). I have been asked about the contents and the reply that I give has become standard. I carry the equipment not to cause harm but as an aid to investigation. I carry a club hammer to help loosen things that have become tight for example the pump in this post. I have used it to re-seal doors that have been prized open by vandals or other so called explorers. Dulling sharp pieces of petruding metal that may cause injury to any other persons. There are hundreds of legitimate uses for a hammer when exploring and as I sometimes take my little boy with me as he likes exploring too, together we pose no threat to anyone or anything. I hope I have explained this to a satisfactory conclusion. Thanks

Everything about this seems very dubious.
Which bit is dubious and I will try to answer it? As I have said, I carry a hammer as part of my equipment as I take my little boy with me on most occasions and I certainly don't want him to get an injury because of a petruding rusty nail or serrated piece of metal, would you?. Is it the fact that I contacted the local police after the photo's were taken and request them to have it re-sealed because after all, vandals WOULD get in, is THAT dubious to show concern about saving some history. I do agree that it is rare these days.

Oops..I seem to have made a boo boo as they say. When I said club hammer...i thought it was one of the tiny ones..I have since been told that is not the case and in fact a club hammer is one of the huge ones used to whack things down or drive stakes into the ground. The hammer I carry so Ive been told is in fact a TAP hammer. Sorry for any confusion.
