Location
Greater Unthank
Taking advantage of good weather recently, I set off with the idea of exploring three locations in one day.
The first place was this small cottage located among the rolling border hills, no history on the house and it seems to have been empty for a good while.

these cottages were built to last, nice pics.

When this place was built, the normal way of producing an attic that was habitable was to lay the slates on a tongue and groove wooden under layer. In the present day the wooden layer has given way to roofing felt and under lining. The wooden boarding produced a roof that was waterproof for years - and this is what you have here. Unfortunately the lack of basic maintenance means that the rot has set in around roof lights and chimney stacks - a few more wet winters and this place will be the usual collapsed roof ruin. Which will be a shame.
