Wasn't going to do a report on this due to a lack of internals but the fact that there are plans a foot for this place gave it a bit of an angle. My dad as a keen horologist took me to Upton Hall, Notts, a few times as a child. I had sketchy memories of an abandoned building near the car park so years later thought I'd check it out as I was in the area. The stable block is still very much there and very much derelict. But plans are afoot as the £8.5m "Saving Time" project to renovate Upton Hall, Grade II-listed and currently on the Heritage at Risk register, and the former stable block to create a "National Centre for Horology". The hall, built in 1832 on the site of an Elizabethan Manor House, is the home of the British Horological Institute (BHI). The stable block has been empty for a number of years but the BHI have secured £2.8m of Heritage Lottery Funds to create a centre of excellence to bring on the next generation of UK clock and watch-makers. As part of the four-year plan the hall will get a much needed renovation but it is the plans for the stable-block which are very eye-catching. An architect's mock-up is given below:

On with a few pictures. Sadly I didn't get inside as the place was locked-up round the front and round the back I didn't really fancy death by nettles. See first picture:

Round the front you can find this cute out building:

…and these former plant growing facilities:

The stable block has suffered years of neglect:

and nature has very much taken over:

Back round the back and the roof doesn't look too sturdy. Note former clock turret.

And that "No entry" sign is a bit random!

Thanks for looking.

You can genuinely use the excuse "I didn't see the sign" here!
