This has to be one of the largest overflows I have seen so far.

The overflow is a large retangular shape, almost like a Vortex, It is very deep, muc deeper than I had expected.

First I climbed over the gate of the small tower to walk around and snap a few pics.

Next up I had to workout how to get onto the platform surrounding the overflow, which turned out to be pretty easy once I worked it out.

Walking upto the hand rail and peeping down I was amazed at how deep it really is, even standing at the gate I reallly did not expect it to be quite so big and deep.

Last but not least I had to check out the outfall for this beast.

I wanted to visit this reservoir after looking at it on FlashEarth and noticing the large overflow, anyway onto the pics:

Outlet from the tower

Emergency overflow outlet

I would love to walk this pipe, but that would only be possible with full waders as the water in front is 1m deep and I had no waders :(

I expect that the pipe is not straight, maybe runs up hill or even round a bend, but either no signs of light from the wide open inlet

Re: Jumbles Reservior - Report - 05.01.08

OOOOh that is very nice, reminds me of Geehi, that was a 110 mtr vortex, which was very dry, i would have to get more rope and bring my SRT gear up there to have a look at this on. Plenty of rigging points as well.

I really enjoyed this one, I was fascinated with the vortex, which is clearly visable on FE, which is what made me want to go up there :)

Climbing gear would make for an easy entrance to this one, however, I dont currently own any (on the wish list).

Plus I need to learn how to absail too

Another great reservoir report. This is brilliant.
I'm fascinated by how different each one is, and all the interesting parts there are. Really enjoyed them. :)

Thank you FL, very kind comments, I dont know what it is but something attacts me this kind of stuff, it could be the point that you made, that each one is different in its own way.

Each one I have seen has its own points of interest, different styles and designs, yet mostly (around here) all built by the victorians (I think).

It seems that it was important to make the reservoirs look nice, where as today the point of making such things look nice seems to be less important :(

Nice pics Wish

Only hear'say so not to sure if it is true, but join me on the carpet children, its story time!

Was told when i was a child and by several reliable sources through out the years that beneath those murky depths of jumbles, lies a complete village and supposedly you used to be able to hear the church bell ringing as it swayed with the currents. And i severly doubt this is true, but if you look left to the carpark and follow the wall of the dam, the house is or was Damon Hill's!

My only advise is between where the water goes to the river and the foot bridge, be very careful if you go for a dip or even fall in, the undercurrents are immense! An old friends retriever got dragged under and she was a very good swimmer, surfice to say, she came bounding over to us from further down the river looking a little wary.

Most places like this has remnants of places underneath. the best way to find out is to get the exact date of when ith res was built and then find a local map or OS map of the are, a couple of years prior to it.

Well I hear these stories all the time, like the one surrounding Pennington Flash, however, when I research Pennington Flash, I discovered that nothing more then a farm is down there
