Hello again. Found this just down from Balintore house whilst on a jaunt with Smellycat. Seems to be a pump house (is there such a thing?).

A few nettles to avoid.

Nice one. :) Lithium and myself happened upon one here in Northumberland but alas it had no workings left inside. I love big old electric motors and that one rings my bell.

Pumphouse.

Interesting place, not sure if that is a pumphouse or a small hydro-electric plant.

The makers name indicates it could be either.

Another clue is the slate board which may have been the generator control panel plus there does not appear to be a discharge pipe if it was a pump.(Pelton type turbine would discharge from the bottom).

Any more pics of the machinery?

Pumphouse.

Nice find SP. Is that crime scene tape in the second pic or something to do with the electrics?

Can just make out "Below" on the tape, I think yellow is for buried gas pipe.

Pumphouse.

It's Balintore castle just outside Kirriemuir.

OK, I notice that there are least two small dams on the map, one about 350 yards West of the castle and another about 1100 yards South West of the castle, wondered if it was connected to one of them?
