Here's some backgound:-

The Obelisk was erected on ‘a grassy knoll’ to commemorate the centenary of the landing in this country of William of Orange and his wife Mary, and the ‘Glorious Revolution’ of 1688-9.

The inscription above, now impossible to decipher through weathering read:

Vindicatae Libertatis Publicae Anno Centesimo
Salutis MDCCLXXXVIII

Another nice one. :) In the grounds of my old college. Should have given me a knock - I live just down the road.

I was looking for an appropriate Urbex King Billy mural from way back to compliment the thread, but all I can find are some inappropriate sectarian nonsense from both sides. So this is the best I could come up with instead. Not ENTIRELY off topic, as it IS taken somewhere in Northen Ireland.

And yes, I SHOULD have taken appropriate safety measures, but I was young and foolish back then. :(

Apologies for the hijack. :D
