Although this structure was probably used for shooting deer in the past it had been abandoned for at least 15 years, probably longer. At 1200ft on High Vinnals it has a commanding view of the forest below it and a 360 degree panorama for miles around.
I was told that it had been used in WW2 as a lookout post. Not sure how true this is. In 1992 I climbed up inside and saw there was an old electric heater so there must have been an underground cable at some point.

great pics mate

I know exactly where it is, used to go up there and have my lunch there, when the forestry commision as it was back then were putting the paths and roadways in for the forest trails and I was a lowly paid digger driver for them
