This is what is left of the Watermill by the Dilham and Wortead Canal. It opened in 1803 and closed in 1935.

I only came upon these place while I was shooting a disused station and bridge at Honing about 2 miles down the road. Of course I could not resist! Can anyone tell me what the wheel on the wall is for?

Nice pics NC,I cant help much with the wheel, it would be nice to see it in context with the rest of the building, how high is it , whats below it , whats it connected to inside the building ?.
All I could suggest is some sort of power take off from the main power source (waterwheel)
Nice place though by the looks of it. :)

Like I said Ricasso I only really stumbled accross it while I was taking pics of Honing station just down the road. The main building was huge but I will go back and have another snoop about very soon.:)

Wow, that's spooky. I was just looking at your Honing bridge pics, which reminded me of this place. Ended up trying to track down exactly where this was on google maps so I could ask you whether you knew if it was still there!

Nice to see some pics from "my" part of the country. I grew up just up the road in Tunstead :) Half of me wishes I still lived around there. Far more stuff to look at than round here in Cambs.

Don't suppose by any chance that you've ever ventured to Catfield or Swannington airfields?

Hello I wouldnt say the place was spooky just rustic and rambling!. I guess it could be fairly spooky thiough especially if it was a night visit! I am extremely proud to be an East Anglian and there is so much out there to see. I havent been to the airfields you mentioned yet but I am planning tot go to the Ex American Bomber Base near Beccles soon. Are you up for a visit to the other two then? If you are P.M me.;)

I actually meant it's spooky that you'd posted the pics as I was thinking about the place - but I don't think I'd want to be there at night now you come to mention it. Nearly as bad as the trip I once took to St.Benets Abbey with a load of mates ghost hunting :)

I'm struggling to find the time to get out much lately, but if I am ever heading up that way I'll give ya a shout.

Oh, that's a really nice find, norwich.
Although there's not a huge amount left, there are still some interesting details, and the building itself is delightful. :)

Hello Hypo. I would not go anywhere near St Bennets in the dark. I would literally shit my pants!

Thanks for that Foxy. The Mill is slowly returning to nature. As it says on a sign on wall itself. You may want to check out the WW1 Pillboxes if you havent already.

Yes, I love things that are returning to nature and find them really interesting. :)

I had a hell of a job fitting all that camera work into the time I had and Uploading it all as well. I had to make time for some food as well.!

They certainly do! it sort of inspires me to get out and about. I just love to be out in the middle of no where surrounded by industrial history around every corner!
