Had a quick trip to this one this morning. Its one of only 2 listed in Sheffield No access to inside sadly and all the embrasures are filled in but well worth a look.Might try one day to get in when the factory is open Its listed on the DOB as
PILLBOX (VARIANT)
The Pillbox at Hecla Works was built during World War Two to protect the munitions work being carried out on this site.

Its at the end of a park thats a really old cemetery which may be of interest to some on here.Lots of overgrown gravestones and suchlike

The other is / was somewhere in the railway station maybe need to join the train spotters at some point

That's very impressive brickwork Rich and looks as if it was built to deceive. Would love to see the inside. Thanks for hunting this out. :)

Fantastic find, Rich. What's really amazing is that it's very similar to one near me, which is also a variant. I thought mine was different because it had been converted, but that rounded shape is the same. If you don't mind, I'll post the pics of it and you'll see what I mean. :)

nice find there mate, as thats a regular size door, six foot six inches then it is indeed a large structure, have you asked for permission to look inside?

also in the top pic, whats that with the steps leading up to it on the right of the pic?

Dave.

There was no one around the factory but I might make a weekday trip and see if I can get a look inside. The steps just led up to a concrete platform

I actualy know where this one is. I deliver bits n bobs to the company that uses the carpark.

The main door by at the top of the step was used as a staff room until they moved into the newly refurbished building a few months back.

Im not to sure to the extent of the building inside that door, but id imagine thats the main way in.

And as for the grave yard, ive done the lot, very very old grave stones, one dates back to the late 17th century! A sort of tomb looking grave with a reference to attercliffe's "Cliff" which is now just a bank of the River Don.

If you come out of this place, you will see the Adelphi Night Club. One ive never managed to get into!! :(

So if your bored and fancy a new mission, last time i went in this place, it was fully open as a night club, but then im going back years!!

Nice pics though :)

What do think the chances are of getting inside ?

As for the one at the station, I've looked a few times where I think it should be but could never see anything.
