Well after doing the HAA battery and the Coastal Battery I thought I would round the day off with a couple of pillboxes. The first 2 have been on here before and are both at Seaton Sluice, Northumberland
First up is pillbox S0013256 a non standard type
The doorway
internals (camera through gap in doorway)
Through embrasures (notice the long tunnel from the inside to the outside)
Then on to pillbox S0007245 a concrete sandbag gun emplacement
Bricked up embrasure
the doorway
the defense area that this emplacement covered
Then on the beach further North at Blyth there were the remains of another 2 pillboxes
The first being S0013264 an Anti Tank gun emplacement
The DoB has the next one as being a circular pillbox S0007117 in the dunes in bad condition. It took some finding because as you can see the elements have taken it's toll on it
concrete sandbag
Anti Tank blocks S0013249
And finally on the way home I thought I would drop in on my local type 22 and finally get some pics of it. This one was part of Brancepeth Durham Light Infantry training camp in County Durham and only this and the officers houses remain (houses are now private family homes). It is in good condition even though we used to play in it as kids
This one had guard sheep this time
internals
Guard sheep wanted to know what I was doing
Thats all folks hope you enjoyed
Cheers for looking
Jon
