What were these for?

I took these photos at the beach at Fort Landguard, Felixtowe in 1990, not been able to find out what they are for.

Well

They aRe gun positions, the guns would have rotated 360 degrees

Looks like they used the same type of mounting for the searchlights at Trow Rock, South Shields
