A bit of a beach survey from the weekend :) This place seems to have been pretty heavily defended although much of it is now in a bad state.Missed 3 of the inland pillboxes as the light was going and I was knackered but thats another day.Starting at the southern end just below where a stream joins the North Sea (theres AT blocks all over but Ive not included too many pics of em)

Remains of a pillbox (eared I think) not too sure on this one

Part 2 to follow thanks for looking

Some top concrete goodies there mate that first one is either an eared pillbox or a lozenge it's hard to say because the roof plan is so similar. Been a productive couple of weeks for you matey cracking stuff

Great report. Goes to show the power of the sea that it can demolish a pillbox like that but then looking at the concrete on a few of them is it any wonder. :)

Yea it was a good week all round may have worn the camera out though :) the concrete quality varied a lot theres a double row of AT blocks in pt2 where the back ones are well worn and buried in the dunes but the front row is in far better condition.

Cracking report Rich, It's mad how the the search-light has stayed together and the pillboxes have collapsed with the force of the waves when you would have thought the pillboxes were built stronger to stop enemy fire.

One thing I noticed was some of the pillboxes had wood let in the walls could be they were to discise them as buildings lik eone not far from where I live.

Thats how they did it, made a wood frame and poured in the concrete (your photo even shows some of the wood still in place), the wood then rotted away over the years.
