Bit of an oddity this one. It's not got a data base reference and yet there's a photo of it on Google earth.I must admit I lived in Farleigh for 12 years and never spotted it although it's right by the side of the road.It was luck I spotted it today as I was in the vicinity visiting friends and wasn't really looking for anything at all,and I reckon in the summer it would be invisible from the road.It must have been one for guarding the Central Ammunition Dump just up the road.

Position is

2 the view from the above embrasure

4 horribly low door

6the embrasures inside seem to have been built up with brick at a later date

7 what weapon would have hung on this?

8The gun port by the door also built up with brick

9 reinforcing showing through in the ceiling also a glimpse of the ricochet wall

10The view from the road almost buried in brambles

nice find mate I know what you mean about them being hidden in the summer I managed to bag a vickers pb yesterday that I thought had been removed (I photographed it's twin sister last year and it's only about 200 yards away) because during summer the vegitation was so thick it hid it

Rather than starting another thread for the sake of four photos I'll bung these on here.A while ago I found a road block at Monkton Farleigh that was a probably a guard post for the ammo dump.Once again the lack of undergrowth produced another block about 30 foot away from the original.

There's roadblocks on each of the three (well two but one has 2 ends) roads leading to MF. Also quite a few other pillboxes dotted around the area, some a lot more hidden than others. :)

Nice find on that PB oldscrote. It's been added to the edob. Where was the photograph by the way?
