Every now and then, it’s nice to just bung all the kit in the car and drive around . I’m usually looking at whole sections/areas of the Taunton Stopline but occasionally I just wanna go look at a box or two. So I think a bit of midweek concrete porn is in order.

All sites are from the southern sector.

For those wishing to know more about the TSL, history and info here

Absolutely no slavering or licking the screen allowed.

Two Type 24’s and two Vickers MMG, in a line of 125 yards watching over the estuary near Seaton.

Any questions, feel free to ask. :)

johnny I need your rubber suite now, superb concrete porn that make me want to go out and get more.

too late mate I'm in full drool mode now lol. Mate that's some serious concrete especially for a school night. I do love the Vickers you get down there (nearly as mush as a good 28 NC) looking at them hairpin sockets has changed my mind about the ones at Hadston Carrs I found the other day because the arrangement is different I now believe them to be just vertical rail. Cheers for that mate

I would LOVE to dig one of those out! (I know I know, not allowed) but even so!

why is it not allowed. Aproach the land owner and have a word, tell him what you would like to do and you never know you might just get permission. I must admit I've been tempted to so many times but I just wouldn't have the time to do it by myself

If you take a look at the pillboxes on the TSL, around a lane called 'The Drift' near Thornton, near Chard, there are what to my mind must be the sockets dug out at some point over the last 70 years and left at the side of the lane, it at least two places.

Nice midweek fix :) thanks.Be nice to see them cleaned out and restored a bit

Mini excavator and a lot of hand shovelling involved, could be tricky. I'm already considering a clear up request on another part of the line which will probably bring me into contact with people who could advise. We'll see.

Cheers jon. :) Hadston Carrs? did I miss that?

The roadblock is the type referred to in the records as 'Salisbury' type. This is the only one I've seen with quite this layout. It's a peach.

I agree Andy, although it's Forton (which you meant). Is this one of the places you mean?

Hadston Carrs is the other side of druridge bay the bit with the 3 mystery lumps of concrete and the beach light mate

I think I drove past 2 just this week here in NI,
from a distance they look like 2 side by side on an old disused airfield.
been driving past them weekly for over a year, due to some grounds work being done they have become visible, I will take a better look this weekend and see what they are and get some photos.

Oh yeah. Forgot those were in that set jon. From the pics it looks like there are just two sockets side by side which without additional concrete pads to take the trailing leg of a hairpin would suggest vertical rail as you say. :)

Sorry mate couldn't quite read your comment. Could you maybe use a larger font size or e brail me.

Who said that pmsl

I was thinking of digging some of the beach ones out but then I thought if I did then the chavs could get in and vandalise them. They would have to be well out the way. Have you seen the double MG emplacements overlooking Holy Island that some of the PSG members dug out http://www.orkneybatteries.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/Beal Point Twin HMG Pillbox Restoration/index.html

Nice Job Munchh. Are the sockets S0001346? I need to know as I'm adding your pics to the placemarks.

No Capn, this one is T RD B 32b. It’s the only site in this thread not recorded yet. I’ve PM’d you the co-ords.

I knew the others wouldn’t be difficult for you to work out from the Alpha/numericals. Child’s play for a man of your skills. :)
