you're being a busy boy Rich, love the shed, any ideas on the circular brick structure in the river bed?

It's a foundation for one of the cylindrical wrought iron legs that supported the metal viaduct that carried the track over the small valley that contains the beach road.

Some nice images in the above - taken approximately 3 years before the station and line closed to revenue traffic.

In the early 50's the rather nice 'shed' was little more than a funny looking urinal, although at sunset rather more serious matters could be attended to also! Mind you, it wasn't until some years later that I understood what the 'grown ups' had been joking about during my first visit to Sandsend, in September 1950.
