Raf stallingbourough is a large heavy gun emplacement built during the Second World War.built to protect the large port of Grimsby from enemy bombers.the site consists of four gun emplacements which housed four 5.25" guns,below were sleeping quarters,workshop and toilets..on the top level with the gun mounts are housing units for the shells.the guns rotated 360 degrees meaning that the artillery was always to hand.it is rumoured it was the largest gun emplacement outside of Dover..
