I'm sure many of you have been here......
A little West of the Citadel Battery are the remains of a WW2 Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery. Originally named D1 with 3.7" guns mounted on the site at the beginning of WW2. A circular road links the 4 concrete emplacements, each is surrounded by a ring of shell lockers. Other buildings including shell stores and a guard room are also onsite. A crew accommodation area would have been around 300 yards East of the battery, these buildings have since been demolished with only foundations remaining.
Chuffed to see the writing/chalkboards remain on the walls in some of the shell stores.
