Not the most exciting adventure, but most of these sites are overgrown these days,

Barrage balloons were used extensively in this area in order to protect plymouth & devonport dockyard...other sites were mt.wise, mt. edgecombe, and treminnow...and many others

this site is a stones throw from staddiscombe rifle range, and watchhouse battery, several range finding positions and BOP's

not much to see but the moorings are in pretty good condition ...

Shame that monstrosity of a vehicle got in the way of the last shot! >)

balloons were held in place with cables, prevented attacking aircraft flying low over land
 
Nice find Kernow, you dont often see these sites, as you say, its good to actually see one tho.
