Hi NC,

Try using a Photo hosting software, such as photobucket. Once you've uploaded your pics, use the IMG code to copy and paste the links onto a new Thread on DP.
Just remember to read the Forum Rules beforehand ;)

Look forward to seeing your pics of these Pillboxes :)

Wow, that first pillbox is really impressive. Never seen one like that before...it's massive!
Good pics, night crawler. Look forward to seeing more. :)

It's a proper F/W Type28, not the modified ones that are around here.

Thanks for uploading these. Pillboxes interest me somehow. It's amazing how much effort went into building these defences. I wonder how long they'll last? The only pillboxes that I've encountered are along the Grand Union Canal in Rickmansworth. They're much smaller than these; type 22's I believe.

Right unless I should open a new thread I'll carry on here with more. The last lot are all from the same place about 300 meters off the Wallingford Bypass where as the following photo's are of the first one I ever knew about when I was a kid. It's along the Thames path towards Moulsford. to get to it you will need to park up along Ferry lane Cholsey. The box itself is at the end of the olf Fairmile Hospital rubbish dump that has been added to over the years so that the pillbox is almost buried. When I was a kid you could see the whole box and go inside (stunk as the anglers used it as a shit house) now the ports are blocked and the door half blocked and gated. This were the first I took of it so I will endever to go back and get som more in the near future.

Surely you have a Type28 with room for your anti-tank gun, then aType28a with the side extension for infantry:confused: or have I got it wrong ? What do you have round your way ?

Yes, the 28A is more common, I guess I mis-interpreted common for standard.

We have no 28s here, only Vickers posts and 6Pdr emplacements. You have to go to wiltshire for the nearest T28s to the south west.

Actually I'm telling a mistruth, I've just remembered there are a couple of 28As on the Taunton Stopline, one north of Ilminster and one between Ilminster and Chard.

This is one of the boxes in the next village Moulsford. It's along the towpath or Thames path from the old Beetle and wedge pub in a river front garden. The houses have been built since the war but the Pillbox remaines in place. I have not seen inside though have thought of asking if itwas ok to have a look.
First oine is as you see it going along the towpath.

As you get up closer to it.

Another shot a bit closer showing steps beside it and well overgrown with Ivy

Last one from furter along the path showing that it lies on the boundry and they have put a sign up telling you that there is no right of way, must have had people going to have a look at it.

A few more near Moulsford that can be seen from the Thames path. The first is aon the opposite side of the river by the Four arches railway bridge. I have not visited it yet so can't say as to the condition. As can be see it is brickfaced to match in with the bridge.

As you can see you will almost miss the pillbox if your not looking for it though on the side it is you would have no problem if passing it.

Yes there is a pillbox under that lot, it's on the other side of the bridge (Cholsey side). It used to be more acessable but British rail have put this fence round it. If you try to climbe across be cairefull is all I can say, I found another way to get to it. Like the one on the other side it is brick faced to blend in with the bridge.

The door with some ivy ripped away, looks to be still in good condition under all this lot.

Those are great, night c. It looks as though they're all T24's and mostly in fairly good condition.
I love the one in the garden...how cool would that be, eh!

O this one can be seen from ferry lane Cholsey, it's on the other side of the river and as yet I have not visited it though it is not hard to getto as it is along the towpath.
