Earlier in the year I was doing some contract work in the new Starbucks formally The Plug and Feathers, Glapwell, Derbyshire.
The downstairs coffee shop was just about completed, my work was upstairs where much was unchanged except where they
had gone through the ceilings below for the air conditioning ducts and vents etc.
The site was known as "Ma Hubbards" and before that The Glapwell Hotel according to Wikipedia, apparently it never reopened
after the first lockdown.

So strange really that the previous "Owners/Users" decided their need for some serious ventilation for the Pub warranted total destruction of virtually half the property?

True. The loss of the upper floor and the cost of 'industrial size' ducting look crazy.

When they take these places over for a grow it’s usually done very professionally with all the windows painted black and all the ducting anc ventilation heating and lighting electric patch into the mains and hydroponics in place in quick time. Then a quick crop and hey presto the place mysteriously burns to the ground.
My advice is never live above an empty pub. It’s risky. Lol

Adding too much ventilation might have been a 90s fad. I don't know about UK or when this pub got ventilated, but here is a shot from the first floor of an old school house I am renovating - the ventilation ducting will be quite a nuisence when it comes to actually using this floor, and it does need of some vacuuming. (Almost worth a report although technically it has never been abandoned.) It was a school and saw an extensive rebuild in 1993 where the top floor was disused and effectively turned into a lower floor in the attic, with about 40cm rockwool blown in on the floor and a vastly oversized ventilation system installed. 1996, with the next change of council, the school was shut down and has been owned by a local group most of the time since then.
