Apologies first this is a really poor report, Iv lost a load of pics from here including my favourite ones of a rather nice bellows forge & sheds that appeared to be for horse drawn funerals.
Visited here with my lad few years back & was quite funny when a guy passing saw us lurking out front & kindly told us how to get in!
Anyway dont think its been covered before so for the above reason here is a google pic of the frontage!

A Wass was first established as Funeral Directors in 1903 and is the oldest firm in Sutton In Ashfield. It began in 1903 when Arthur Wass commenced as a funeral director, he had his own horses and performed his funerals in a Victorian horse drawn carriage, which is still used today.
In 1936 Mr Wass began to operate motorised vehicles to perform his funerals. In 1943 the founder of the business sadly passed away, it then passed through the family, with Arthur’s wife taking control of the business followed by William Arthur Wass and then David Wass.

It was at the time when David owned the business that he introduced another experienced and fully qualified local Funeral director Paul Brown, to help run the business as he suffered from ill health. It was the last wish of the Wass family that the business continued.
Paul now has full control over the business, moving it from strength to strength to ensure that families in need are provided with great care and dignity for their loved ones, helping them with all of their funeral arrangements during this distressing time.

My goth-tendancies daughter would make us drive there tomorrow if I let on there was an abandoned funeral place. Need to find one closer instead ... 🤔

there are a few decent morgues left in uk, just finding them. Iv done a couple of open tombs / mausoleums up Scotland too, they are weird places to explore if im honest!
