Seen this pop up on FB and a quick search and had it located. So we set off on a beautiful sunny morning to catch the nice light. The tower is a perfect example of a water tower which is in great condition. That goes up I think was five floors. It was nice to see the wrought iron staircase going up to the top. The water tower which was built in 1902 served the Benacre estate which is very extensive. Looking into some history I read about a family that lived in the tower itself. I was never aware that people lived in the water tower itself. Often between the tank room and the pump room. I could imagine it's very noisy and a lot of condensation would be created in the tower.

There are two large water to tanks in here over two floors.
Surprisingly with water still in them, albeit a bit stagnant.

Not much left in the way of pumping machinery, but the helical spokes of the wheel and the spiral staircase design are both attractive. A conversion with a lift in one corner would make an interesting architectural project.
