The History…
Browns Service Centre specialised in car mechanics & MOT with an attached car sales room. In 2017, A deliberate blaze was started & the business had nine vehicles destroyed in the flames. Although no info can be found to when Browns closed its doors - the company has since stopped trading & been dissolved.
Attached to the service centre is a very large yard where you can find a mass of damaged & scraped vehicles. From what I have researched the scrap vehicles are owned by the people of the Bickershaw Lane Traveller's site just 5 minuted away - They export the engines & axles from the vehicles while also having a second scrap yard for these on their travelling site. Whether or not all of the vehicles here were brought in by the travelling community or already existed here I cannot be 100% sure but the control of the scrap is now overseen by the licensed travelling site around the corner.
The Explore…
Not a particularly difficult find… you can see this one from the road as you drive past & access wise you can walk straight on in. The only thing worth mentioning is, it is traveller owned/occupied - I didn’t see anyone there in my couple of hours exploring but its worth keeping in mind if you have a look of a scrap metal thief…
