Junior School A is one of the oldest schools remaining in Leicester, so naturally the owners have decided to smash the place to bits. It was opened in August 1875 by the Leicester School Board. On the passing of the education act of 1902 the control of the school became vested in the Leicester Education Committee. In later years many of the old Victorian schools in Leicester were lost, as the vast areas of terraced streets surrounding them were obliterated. However this one somehow managed to cling onto life, still being used as a school in the 70's, even having its playground extended over the site of demolished rows of shops. After this it became an annexe to a college of further education in the 1980's, until they finally left the site a number of years ago.
