Meadowbrook School
The Montessori Method of Education is a child-centred educational approach based on the scientific observations of children, developed by the Italian physician Maria Montessori over a century ago. The system is in use in independent schools across the world in various forms, but all of the methods view the child as the one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It attempts to develop children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively with mixed-age classrooms, greater student choice, specialised educational materials and specially trained Montessori teachers among other things.
Meadowbrook School near Ascot was run under the Montessori method at this location for almost three decades, admitting children between the ages of 18 months to 11 years old before they moved to a larger, better suited site in 2018.
Hard to believe its only been empty since then, the place is completely battered with only a few decent features remaining.
